Artist Statement
My work is a narrative exploration of my roots in western Canada, my interest in observing life in action and my fascination with all things cosmic. The images are bold, contemporary and express my view of the world as I see it.
The Mountain series, focuses on the mountains of western Canada, from the foothills to the Columbia Range. I bare witness to the impact of nature, time, and man's usage of these gentle giants. I want my audience to see the beauty in change but also the devastation of nature upon itself. The work reflects the changes taking place in the mountains from fires, deforestation, and the pine beetle invasion and that in spite of the changes, beauty and peace prevail.
Plants and Water series presents a softer closer look at emerging life and the roots of beauty, more abstracted but still focused on vibrate colour.
Watching Life Happen series: this work is long and slow to develop. I am an observers of people going about life in a very ordinary way. The images draw the viewer into the scene and let one explore the emotions of the day and the event. It takes me a long time to complete these works because it's very important to me to capture the emotion of the scene.
Abstracted Space series: Completely abstracted images inspired by space, cosmic forces and the mystery of cosmic energies.
